Ready to take on JEE (Advanced) 2025? Here’s what you need to know about eligibility—whether you’re an Indian national, an OCI/PIO cardholder, or a foreign national. Read on to make sure you’re on track for the upcoming exam!
To be eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2025, candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. JEE (Main) 2025 Performance: You must be among the top 2,50,000 candidates in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main). This includes specific category-wise allocations:
Note: Candidates from the OPEN or OPEN-PwD lists do not qualify for category-specific reservations, including PwD benefits under other categories.
2. Age Limit: You must be born on or after October 1, 2000. Relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates (born on or after October 1, 1995).
3. Number of Attempts: You can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.
4. Class 12th (or Equivalent) Appearance: You must have appeared for your Class XII exam in 2023, 2024, or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates from boards declaring results after September 21, 2022, may also be eligible.
5. Previous IIT Admissions: If you have been previously admitted to any IIT, you are ineligible. However, if you were enrolled in a preparatory course in 2024 or withdrew from an IIT before the final seat allocation, you can still apply.
Foreign nationals and OCI/PIO candidates who obtained their cards after March 4, 2021, face slightly different criteria:
1. JEE (Main) Waiver: Foreign nationals do not need to take JEE (Main) and can directly register for JEE (Advanced) 2025.
2. Seat Allocation: These candidates will compete in supernumerary (additional) seats outside the 2,50,000 cap for Indian nationals. Seats are capped at 10% per course and do not offer reservations under any category, including female-specific supernumerary seats.
To sum it up, JEE (Advanced) 2025 eligibility requires you to meet age limits, performance in JEE (Main) 2025 (for Indian nationals and OCI/PIO candidates with cards before March 4, 2021), Class 12th appearance, and other conditions like previous IIT admissions. For foreign nationals and OCI/PIO candidates (cards after March 4, 2021), the criteria differ slightly, especially with regard to JEE (Main) registration and seat allocation.
With the countdown to JEE (Advanced) 2025 already underway, these guidelines will be crucial for anyone planning to apply. Stay tuned for further details in the official JEE (Advanced) 2025 Information Brochure and ensure you meet all criteria to keep your IIT dream alive!
