CBSE Forms a Committee to Develop Parenting Calendar for Academic Year 2025-26

Parents play a huge role in shaping their child’s academic and personal growth.

That is why the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has just formed a dedicated committee to create a Parenting Calendar. This thoughtful initiative is designed to guide parents in supporting their children’s journey through school and beyond. It will be implemented in the academic year 2025-26.

Let’s take a look at what this initiative aims to achieve:

Objectives of the Calendar

  • This initiative aims to guide parents in supporting their children's diverse needs.
  • It is all about strengthening the parent–student bond and empowering families to navigate education together.
  • To facilitate effective parent–teacher interactions.
  • To establish a systematic communication framework for addressing significant milestones like exam results, behaviour changes, etc.
  • For offering help to students and taking action at the right time—in an organised way—to address specific needs or issues.

To ensure that the parenting calendar is properly created and executed, a ten-member committee has been established

Committee In-Charge of Creating the Calendar

A committee will be responsible for attending virtual or offline meetings as scheduled by the Board for decision-making. This committee will consist of the following individuals:

  1. Ms. Anuradha Joshi, Principal, Sardar Patel Vidyalay, Delhi (Convener)
  2. Dr. Swati Popat Vats, President, Podar Education Network, Mumbai
  3. Ms. Rekha Krishnan, Principal, Vasant Valley School, Delhi
  4. Ms. Manju Arif, Principal, Delhi Public School, Bangalore North
  5. Dr. Nivedita Ganguly, Principal, DAV International School, Ahmedabad
  6. Ms. Minakshi Kushwaha, Principal, Birla Vidya Niketan, Delhi
  7. Ms. Richa Agnihotri, Principal, Sanskriti School, Delhi
  8. Ms. Annie Koshy, Principal, St. Mary’s School, Delhi
  9. Dr. Paramjit Singh, Principal, Army Public School, Ambala Cantt, Ambala
  10. Dr. Diganta Haldar, Principal, Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Guwahati, Assam

The tentative deadline for the submission of the committee’s recommendations is March 15, 2025.

How Can Parents Help Support This Initiative?

  1. Be Prepared: Review your child's academic progress and any communication from teachers. List down questions or concerns about their performance, behaviour, or well-being.
  2. Focus on Solutions: If issues arise, work collaboratively with teachers to find actionable solutions.
  3. Understand Your Role: Recognise that learning is a shared responsibility between home and school.
  4. Communicate Regularly: Don’t wait for formal meetings to discuss pressing issues.
  5. End on a Positive Note: Appreciate the teacher's efforts and express your commitment to teamwork.

This initiative has the potential to vastly improve student welfare. But your involvement as a parent is crucial to see the desired results. By collaborating with teachers on time and offering feedback, you will be able to see your child shine academically.
