In a significant move towards curbing exam malpractices, the Maharashtra Education State Board is introducing the "Copy-Mukt Abhiyaan" for students appearing for their upcoming SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) exams. Starting from January 20 to January 26, 2025, schools and junior colleges across the state will hold a week-long awareness program designed to educate students, parents, and teachers about the importance of maintaining academic integrity during the board exams.
For the first time, students appearing for the upcoming board exams will be required to take an oath against malpractice. This initiative aims to create an exam environment free of cheating and other forms of dishonesty. The "Copy-Mukt Abhiyaan" is part of the state’s broader strategy under the 100-day action plan set by the Honourable Chief Minister and the Education Minister of Maharashtra.
The awareness week will focus on informing students about the rules and regulations for board exams. Schools will implement various activities each day to promote a fair examination process:
January 20 | Local meetings with school principals, teachers, and public representatives to discuss the campaign and its importance. |
January 21 | Students will take the "Copy-Free Oath," committing to a cheat-free exam environment. |
January 22 | Teachers will educate students about the instructions on their hall tickets and answer sheets, making them aware of the consequences of misconduct. |
January 23 | Experts will guide students and parents on healthy eating habits and the importance of maintaining good health during the exam period. |
January 24 | Students will receive tips on how to prepare effectively for exams and maintain a stress-free mindset. A video prepared by the State Board will be shown to students to further assist them. |
January 25 | Schools will organise awareness activities on the premises, reinforcing the "Copy-Mukt" message with slogans. |
January 26 | In the final activity of the week, principals will address the community in the Gram Sabha meetings, encouraging everyone to support the campaign and ensure a fair exam environment. |
To ensure the integrity of the upcoming exams, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has announced several additional measures. The exam centres will be staffed with personnel from other schools to minimise the chances of any exam-related malpractices. This will also help maintain a level of transparency and trust throughout the examination process.
With over 31 lakh students expected to sit for the SSC and HSC exams in February and March 2025, the state government is taking proactive steps to ensure a fair, transparent, and cheat-free examination experience. The "Copy-Mukt Abhiyaan" is a vital step in this direction, not only addressing the immediate issue of malpractice but also fostering a culture of academic honesty among students.
By involving parents, teachers, and the community, this campaign is aimed at creating a holistic environment that supports students in giving their best during the exams, free from the pressures of dishonesty.
As Maharashtra gears up for the exams, this initiative will hopefully lead to more successful and ethical outcomes for students across the state.
