A Little Bit About the Change in Question Style: Competency-Based Questions

The CBSE has revamped its Sample Papers to include questions that emphasize analytical thinking, conceptual clarity and topic understanding. These changes, in line with Circular No. Acad-45/2023 issued on April 6, 2023, aim to introduce more analytical and competency-based questions to promote conceptual clarity and a deeper understanding of subjects. The changes are reflected in multiple-choice questions (MCQs), short-answer questions and long-answer questions.

Approximately 50% of the questions in the new Sample Papers fall into this category. This move is in line with global educational trends that focus on assessing students' problem-solving abilities and deep comprehension rather than rote memorisation.

Earlier CBSE had also released sample papers for board exams 2024.
